There are 3 plans you want to create

Posted: 15th May 2010 by Abhrajit in Planning

Ideally we need to start with Three plans
-Your business plan
-Your entrepreneur plan
-Your personal plan

Business Plan is self explanatory. Something that relates to my own online business. For example, list ‘n’ number of people this year. Set up Membership plan, blog site etc. Its something that I want to do this year about my own business.
Entrepreneur Plan is more like your personal goal related to your business. For example, I want to learn email marketing, I want to reach Alex’s level, I want to learn how to record webinars.

Take a look at the webinar HERE that I got from Alex. I am willing to give it to you for FREE. Its an hour long webinar from Alex Jeffreys where he talks about what it takes to become a successful Internet Entrepreneur.

Personal Goals are like your own goals, outside of your business may be. For example, My personal goal this year is to travel England, France and Italy on the way to go to my homeland India later this year. So these are the three types of plans I need to create.
What is very important is that you need to focus on one business plan in the beginning. If you have one biz goal 95% chance success; Two goals you have a 70% chance of success.

You need to be very organized. That is what I learnt from Alex. Organize your work; write down step by step on paper, notepad, on your planner or computer folders wherever. You have be organized. I used mindmap to write down my ideas, thoughts.

I started writing everything on paper. I broke down my Goal (ONE goal for next 12 months) into smaller goal areas. Call them Key Result Area Goals. I write down those in a tabular format with three columns
1.KEY Result Goal
2.Why is this Goal a key result area,
3.Goal completion Month.
This gives me a clear vision of my GOALs and why each of them is Key. When do I want to achieve them. This gives me a clear FOCUS.

Then I create the KRA Task Planner. This is the 12 month planner. I list out all my KRA(Key Result Area) goals against each month (I get this from above KRA goals listing). So I get a full view of the Year with clear ‘deliverables’ (really Goals to achieve).
Then I break them down to four 90 day planners. Take the first 90 day Planner. And plan further. My immediate attention is to create four 1-month plans from this.
Again, I write down everything on paper. Take one month and build a tabular structure with the following columns
1.KRA Goals
2.Stepping Stones to completion.
I fill that out for each of the FOUR monthly planner. Now I have a clear idea of what tasks I need to complete every month to achieve my KRA Goals for that month.

I would like to hear from you what is your strategy to plan for your business, work, life anything. Do you have a well defined approach to planning? Remember, “Plans are nothing; planning is everything”. Please leave your comments, suggestions, your thoughts on planning.

My Next step is then to get down to my Weekly and Daily plans. I will explain the strategy on my next post. Keep following..

A goal without a plan is just a wish

Planning, planning, planning.
This is where I was not good at. As i mentioned in my previous post, I lacked focus, because there was no proper planning. I did not have a clear goal for my internet business. So i did not have clear plan. The first module in Alex Jeffrey’s coaching program focuses on planning. A successful online business requires a solid plan of actions and a clear goal. It talks about get yourself accountable.

Alan Lakein, a well-known author on personal time management, once said “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now”
This is so true. Its all about planning your work for today and every day, then work your plan. I work as a systems analyst in an organization. The job is stressful. I spend more than 10 hours in my day job. I have been a software programmer almost all my career. My point is, no matter how much tools, software applications, programs I had in my hard disk, I had no real plans. I had (too many) plans and none of them produce any direction for me. Alex Jeffrys course gave me that valuable piece of lesson. As I mentioned in my previous post, I learned to ‘forward to Basics’. I learnt how to break down my long term plan into smaller chunks of plans.

By the way, I want to pass onto you a free gift which I got from my mentor and business coach, Alex Jeffreys. It is an hour long webinar where he really really spells out what it takes to become a successful internet marketer.

Anyhow, back to my story..

So, I decided to have my Goal for the year. It has to be a ‘realistic’ goal; not like become the next internet millionaire in 7 days or get 100000 visitors to your site in in 24hours blah.. blah.. blah..
Based on that I have drafted out my goal for the next year. Then the plans to achieve those goals. A year plan is broken down into 4 quarterly plans, and then break further down to monthly, weekly and daily.
So to summarize…
1.My Goal (for this year 2010)
2.My Goal for next year (2011)
3.My plan for next 90 days
4.My plan for next 30 days
5.My plan for next week
6.Plan today for tomorrow.
7.KOTOBOT (keep on top of being on top)

This is my plan which will take me to my retirement ’soon’. This is not just another list of tasks. Each of the tasks is derived from a well defined method and approach. Just for your information, I paid $997 for some of that stuff…I am going to explain the method and approach I took to plan my quarterly, monthly and daily plans in my next post.

For quite some time I have been trying to setup and write my first blog post. May be I have been guilty of thinking money (most of the time) from my blog. I was always looking for a great niche, looking to find the most suitable keywords, and stressed myself out in thinking what should I write. How can I write a perfect blog to attract Google’s attention? I have been stressed out, frustrated and concerned. I was always looking for the best topic that i wanted to blog on. I wanted to blog on something that was “hot” in Search Engines. I wanted to blog on the most sought after “topic” which would give me plenty of traffic. My pagerank would be higher in Google and I would make a good fortune from AdSense.
I have spent a good few hundred dollars (if not thousand) in my investments in traffic pulling ebooks, seo guides and many others. My focus was “make money Online” and my attention was as diversified as cultures in my homeland India. I wanted to make money from the Internet through whichever means possible. For example, Niche websites, Mini-websites, One page web-sites, affiliate marketing, article marketing, Online Survey, traffic generation and the list goes on and on. I opted in so many freebies and webinars and conferences.
Until very recently my honoured coach and mentor, Alex Jeffreys, struck a cord in me recently when he said something in the effect of – Don’t go for the Money, Let money come for you. And he did not just say it as a motivational quote; he substantiated his argument/point. and that strike my mind and I was really ‘focused’ in his first webinar class/session. I forgot about ‘Making Money’ for a while and focused on the ‘Basics’ of Internet Marketing. In fact he refers to it as ‘Forward to basics’. makes perfect sense. That was the first change in my thought process.

The next two sessions have completely changed my approach towards Internet Marketing. The concept of being an Internet Marketer as opposed to an Internet Seller. The concept of blogging for people and not for money. The concept of focusing on adding value to the content and NOT keywords only. The whole concept of Internet Marketing and Internet Profit has been revamped for me. Its been a new (Internet) thinking. Thanks so much to Alex.

So talking about the influence… Alex’s Internet Marketing Course has made so much impact on me already. It has brought discipline in my life. I am more organized now than before. I can manage my time better than before. I can see my day more productive than before.
Before I did not know HOW to plan (at least plan good); now i know how to. Now i can see my monthly plan rolling up to my 90 day plan rolling up to my yearly goal. I still have to work on my daily plan which should roll up to my monthly plan. So, I have a clear plan to achieve my goal now.
Before I used to dream my ‘dreams’; now I dream the reality.
Before I used to look for help in Google; now I look for help in the forum.
Before I used to strive to ‘make a buck’; now I know I can ‘make a difference’.
Before I used to dream I would retire early; now I know I will retire ’soon’.

What is my plan to retire soon? we will talk about it very soon…

I am pretty sure everyone of you have experienced some changes in your life along the path of your online journey. Please share your thoughts on how Internet Marketing has affected your life; how AJ’s course affected your lifestyle? Has it changed your thought process at all? positively, negatively? Not only from financial viewpoint, but also from social and other aspect of your life is also affected by some influences. Please share your thoughts. Till then.. take care.
